I had a decent stay at the New Century Manju Hotel for the price I paid. The location was very convenient, right across from the subway, which made exploring Shanghai easy. However, the amenities were a bit dated, and the breakfast options could be improved for Western tastes. Overall, it served its purpose well for a budget-friendly option. 👍

Rooms

The room was a good size and quite clean, though a bit cramped with an extra bed. It also came with complimentary water bottles each day.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally helpful and willing to assist, although not all spoke English well. I appreciated the prompt maid service during my stay.
Location
9.0
The location was excellent, directly across from Hanzhong Road station, making it super accessible to the subway and other attractions.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was a disappointment for my tastes, with limited options for Western cuisine. It could definitely use more variety.
Facilities

The hotel offered basic amenities like WiFi and room service, which were satisfactory for my needs.

I had mixed feelings about my stay. The location was super convenient being right across from the metro, but the staff's attitude seriously let down the experience. The room was decent-clean and comfortable-but I had issues with noise and understanding during check-in.

Rooms
6.0
My room was comfortable and clean, which I appreciated. However, the sound isolation wasn't great. I could hear noises from nearby rooms, which made it hard to relax sometimes.
Service
5.0
The staff wasn't very professional. They had a hard time understanding my reservation and acted quite rude when I tried to explain. It resulted in a frustrating experience that took too long to resolve.
Location

The hotel is in a prime location-right by a metro station which made it super easy to get around the city. It's close to the Shanghai railway station too, so thumbs up for that!
Dining
5.0
Dining options at the hotel were pretty basic. The breakfast was more geared towards local tastes, which didn't suit my preferences, and I didn't find much I liked in the menu for dinner either.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities like room service were available, but I didn't test them out. It was nice to have some essentials like free water bottles, but overall, it felt a bit bare-bones for the price.

The hotel's location is truly a standout, with easy access to the metro, making it convenient to explore Shanghai. However, my experience with the room quality varied greatly; my first room was unacceptable but the second was quite nice. While the breakfast offered a good mix of Chinese and Western options, the overall dining experience could use improvement.

Rooms
5.0
Initially, I was given a small room next to a construction site, which was noisy and had a broken shower knob. Fortunately, after I complained, I was moved to a quieter deluxe room with better amenities.
Service
6.0
The staff were somewhat helpful, but communication was a challenge, especially at night when fewer staff members spoke English. I found it frustrating that I had to show pictures to order food because they didn't understand my requests over the phone.
Location
8.0
The hotel is ideally situated right across from Hanzhong Station, just two stops from People's Square, which makes getting around Shanghai extremely easy.
Dining
6.0
I found the breakfast acceptable; it had a few Western items like toast and eggs alongside more traditional Chinese fare. However, the options for foreigners were somewhat limited.
Facilities
5.0
While there were some basic facilities, the lack of room service and limited nearby dining options made my stay less convenient than I had hoped.

I had a decent stay at New Century Manju Hotel near Shanghai Railway Station. The location is super convenient with the metro right out front, but the noise from the street can be a bit much during the day. My room was modern and comfortable, but there were some cleanliness issues with the carpets. Overall, it's a good value, especially for a longer visit.

Rooms
7.0
My room was modern with a comfy bed and a spacious shower, but the carpets could use some cleaning.
Service
6.0
Service was mixed; while the maid was incredibly prompt and helpful, I didn't find the staff at check-in very informative.
Location
8.0
The hotel is right in front of the metro station, making it easy to explore the city and get to nearby places like the Bund.
Dining
6.0
Dining options included a mix of Chinese and Western choices, but the breakfast leaned heavily towards what locals might prefer.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel offered room service and a decent amount of amenities, but a better variety of channels for TV would have been nice.

I had a mixed experience at the New Century Manju Hotel. While the location near the metro was very convenient for exploring Shanghai, I faced some cleanliness and service issues that detracted from my stay. The breakfast was decent and offered a good variety, but there were hiccups that made it less than ideal overall.

Rooms
6.0
My room was generally clean, but there were signs of wear and tear. The air conditioning worked fine, yet the slight gap in the window let in a chilly draft, which was uncomfortable at times. I was initially disappointed with the bed size since it was advertised as a queen but turned out to be a double.
Service
5.0
I encountered some difficulties with the staff's English proficiency, which made communication cumbersome at times. I also didn't receive my requested wake-up call, which was an important oversight. However, the housekeeping staff was friendly, though they spoke no English, so it was challenging to ask for help.
Location
7.0
The hotel's proximity to the Hanzhong Road metro station is a major plus for getting around Shanghai easily. However, the surrounding area felt a bit dead at night with limited dining and shopping options nearby.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast offered a mix of Chinese and Western options, which was quite filling. I appreciated the variety, but as a foreigner, I found ordering room service problematic due to language barriers.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel had basic amenities, such as wired internet, I was disappointed that Wi-Fi was not available as advertised. The small convenience store on-site had limited selections and was pricey.
